UTEX strains that have been designated, "Inquire with UTEX," are organisms that are rare, have very slow growth, and/or are low in available material. Instead of omitting these strains from the online catalog and preventing access to the algal scientific community, UTEX lists these strains as requiring the customer to contact us first. This allows us to check the health of the strain in question, review how much material there is available, and verify if UTEX is able to provide enough material for the request before an order is placed.
