Can the photobioreactor's (PBR) glassware and black lid be autoclaved?

Modified on Fri, Apr 1, 2022 at 11:09 AM

GroFizz has informed us that due to a change by their manufacturer, the photobioreactor lids and glassware are no longer autoclavable.

To sterilize, wash both the glass reactor jar and lid with a 10% bleach solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts water), rinse, and air dry. You can also spray both the glass reactor jar and lid with 70% Ethanol (EtOH) and let it air dry.

IMPORTANT: Never use a bleach solution and ethanol solution at the same time. Dangerous fumes will be created. It is recommended to wait a few hours to ensure items are completely dry before using another solution.
